Liverpool manager Arne Slot has reportedly confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Thursday.
Alexander-Arnold requested to be withdrawn due to a strain during Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, which kept them top of the Premier League table.
According to The Evening Standard, Slot confirmed the defender’s absence for the Spurs encounter, despite adopting a positive tone regarding the England international’s leg issue.

“He is going to miss tomorrow, and we have to see if he can play on Sunday, but he is not available tomorrow,” Slot said on Wednesday.
“I think you saw he left the pitch with a bit of pain in his leg, so that is why he misses tomorrow. He is already on the pitch with the rehab coach, so let’s see how long it takes.”
For the win over the Cherries, Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, and Darwin Núñez returned to the bench, while Joe Gomez resumed training with Liverpool.
Tottenham, led by Ange Postecoglou, defeated the Merseyside giants last month and hold a 1-0 advantage ahead of the semi-final return leg.

Liverpool remain in contention on four fronts, currently sitting six points ahead of Arsenal with a game in hand in the Premier League.
The Reds have also qualified for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League as group winners.
Slot’s side are still in the FA Cup and are set to face Plymouth Argyle in the fourth round of the competition on Sunday.
