Wilfred Ndidi has said luck was not on Leicester City’s side against a depleted Arsenal side in Saturday’s Premier League match.
A late brace from substitute Mikel Merino handed Arsenal a 2-0 win against a Leicester side that suffered their third straight defeat.
The defeat means the Foxes are in 19th place on 17 points, two points from safety in the league standing.
For the Gunners, they are now four points behind Liverpool who will host Wolverhampton Wanderers today (Sunday).
Reflecting on the defeat, Ndidi hailed his teammates for their effort.
“It was a difficult game, we stayed on till they scored the first goal,” Ndidi told Leicester TV. “It’s quite a tough game but we did well, to be honest, we needed to because we were playing against a top team and it’s something we will take the positives to the next one.
“We knew we were still in the game we were just unlucky we conceded the first goal. We were still in it because we were together, stayed compact.
“They are very good keeping the ball, positioning and tried to get at us. We just needed to stick together and go on the counter that’s why sometimes when we get the ball we just go forward because we knew their game plan so we just stick to it.
“We are a bit gutted because we conceded two goals, we should have stayed more in the game. But overall we are pleased with the performance until they scored. Everyone know the position that we are so we just go forward to the next game.”
On his return to Leicester’s starting line-up after being away since December:”I feel great, I feel amazing, there are lots of games coming up so I just need to look after myself and keep going.”
Afgelopen weekend speelde Leicester City tegen Arsenal in de Premier League en helaas liep het niet zoals gehoopt voor de ploeg van Wilfred Ndidi. Ondanks een sterke prestatie van de Nigeriaanse middenvelder, leed Leicester City een nederlaag tegen Arsenal met 1-0.
Ndidi, die bekend staat om zijn harde werk op het middenveld en zijn vermogen om de verdediging te ondersteunen, speelde een solide wedstrijd tegen Arsenal. Hij won verschillende duels en onderschepte veel passes, maar het mocht niet baten voor Leicester City.
Het enige doelpunt van de wedstrijd kwam in de tweede helft van Arsenal-speler Alexandre Lacazette. Ondanks enkele kansen voor Leicester City, slaagden ze er niet in om gelijk te maken en moesten ze genoegen nemen met een nederlaag.
Na de wedstrijd sprak Ndidi over het gebrek aan geluk voor Leicester City tegen Arsenal. Hij benadrukte dat het team hard had gewerkt en kansen had gecreëerd, maar dat ze simpelweg niet aan hun kant waren.
De nederlaag tegen Arsenal zal zeker teleurstellend zijn voor Ndidi en zijn teamgenoten, maar ze zullen zich snel moeten herstellen en zich richten op de volgende wedstrijd. Met nog veel wedstrijden te gaan in het seizoen, is er nog steeds hoop voor Leicester City om hun doelen te bereiken.
Al met al was pech niet aan de kant van Leicester City tegen Arsenal, maar met hun harde werk en vastberadenheid zullen ze blijven strijden voor succes in de Premier League. Ndidi zal ongetwijfeld een sleutelfiguur blijven in het team en zijn bijdrage zal cruciaal zijn voor het behalen van positieve resultaten in de toekomst.
