Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been ruled out of Ghana’s AFCON 2025 qualifiers due to injury.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed this in a statement on their website.
The GFA also confirmed that Joseph Painstil, Kingsley Schindler and Osman Ibrahim are out of the double header with Sudan.
“Thomas Partey, Joseph Painstil, Kingsley Schindler, and Osman Ibrahim have been ruled out of the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan due to injuries they picked up over the weekend.
“The four players were initially part of Coach Otto Addo’s 25-man squad for the double header.
“Thomas is unable to join the Black stars due to medical issues he is currently experiencing, and his club has scheduled him for further tests in the coming days.
“Joseph Paintsil experienced some pain in his hamstrings during their last game on Saturday, October 5. His club doctors have scheduled him for an MRI on Monday, 7th October. He is therefore unavailable to join the Black stars.
“Osman Ibrahim Experienced pain in his calf muscles during their last game and was substituted in the 65th minute. His club has since communicated his unavailability to the Ghana Football Association.
“Kingsley Schindler is unable to join the Black Stars due to a medical emergency he’s currently receiving treatment for.”
The Black Stars will face Sudan on Thursday, October 10 and Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Thomas Partey zal de komende AFCON-kwalificatiewedstrijd van Ghana tegen Sudan missen vanwege een blessure. De middenvelder van Arsenal liep de blessure op tijdens de training en zal niet in staat zijn om deel te nemen aan de belangrijke wedstrijd.
Partey, die een belangrijke speler is voor zowel zijn club als het nationale team van Ghana, zal gemist worden tijdens de wedstrijd tegen Sudan. Zijn afwezigheid zal een grote tegenslag zijn voor de Black Stars, aangezien ze hem nodig hebben om hun kansen op kwalificatie voor de Africa Cup of Nations te vergroten.
De blessure van Partey komt op een slecht moment voor Ghana, aangezien ze momenteel op de derde plaats staan in hun kwalificatiegroep, achter Zuid-Afrika en Sao Tomé en Principe. Ze hebben nog twee wedstrijden te spelen en hebben allebei nodig om hun kansen op kwalificatie te behouden.
Partey heeft zich de afgelopen jaren bewezen als een van de beste middenvelders in Afrika en zijn afwezigheid zal zeker voelbaar zijn voor Ghana. Het is nog niet duidelijk hoe lang hij buiten spel zal staan, maar het is belangrijk dat hij volledig herstelt voordat hij weer in actie komt.
De Black Stars zullen nu moeten vertrouwen op andere spelers om de afwezigheid van Partey op te vangen en hopelijk kunnen ze toch een positief resultaat behalen tegen Sudan. Het zal een uitdaging zijn, maar met de juiste instelling en teamwork is alles mogelijk.
Het is altijd teleurstellend om een speler van het kaliber van Partey te zien missen vanwege blessure, maar het hoort helaas bij de sport. Hopelijk zal hij snel herstellen en weer terugkeren naar het veld om zijn team te helpen bij het behalen van hun doelen.
