Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye will work under a new coach at Serie A club Udinese following the appointment of Kosta Runjaic.
Runjaic will replace 2006 World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro, who had taken charge for the final six games of the 2023-24 Serie A season.
This will be the ninth club of Rujanic’s coaching career, which began in Germany back in 2007.

Udinese Calcio is delighted to announce that Kosta Runjaic has been appointed as the new head coach of the Udinese first team for the coming season,” a statement on the club website read.
“Runjaic, who began his coaching career in Germany, has expressed a modern, high-tempo, attack-minded brand of football while blooding talented youngsters. His excellent communication skills and ability to adapt to the technical and tactical needs of his teams helped him win the Polish Cup and Polish Super Cup during his recent two-year spell at Legia Warsaw.
“The German tactician will now have the chance to prove himself with Udinese on one of the most illustrious football stages, Serie A, in an increasingly globalised game where international expertise is a key quality.”
He will be officially unveiled to the media
next week Tuesday.
Udinese heeft aangekondigd dat voormalig Nigeriaans international John Obi Mikel de nieuwe coach wordt van de club. Mikel Okoye zal de leiding hebben over het team voor het komende seizoen en zal proberen om Udinese terug te brengen naar de top van het Italiaanse voetbal.
Mikel heeft een indrukwekkende carrière als speler achter de rug, waarbij hij speelde voor clubs als Chelsea, Tianjin TEDA en Trabzonspor. Hij heeft ook meer dan 90 interlands gespeeld voor Nigeria en was een belangrijke speler voor het nationale team tijdens zijn tijd als speler.
Als coach zal Mikel proberen zijn ervaring en kennis over te brengen op de spelers van Udinese en hen te helpen hun prestaties te verbeteren. Hij staat bekend om zijn tactische intelligentie en zijn vermogen om spelers te motiveren, wat hem een ideale kandidaat maakt voor de positie.
