Barcelona have announced the signing of Hansi Flick as the senior men’s new head coach.
The club, in a statement, said they have
reached an agreement with Flick for a deal until 30 June 2026.
“The new coach has signed a contract at the Club’s offices accompanied by FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta; first vice president responsible for the sporting area, Rafa Yuste and the Club’s sporting director, Anderson Luís de Souza, Deco,” the Catalan club stated.
“By bringing Hansi Flick as coach, FC Barcelona have chosen a man well known for his teams’ high pressing, intense and daring style of play which has brought him great success at club level and international level, winning pretty much all there is to win in the world of football.
“Born in Heidelberg, Germany in 1965, Flick started his coaching career back in 1996 as player-coach at FC Victoria Bammental.
“In 2000 he took over at Hoffenheim where he stayed for five seasons before moving to RB Salzburng to become part of the coaching staff under Giovanni Trapattoni and Lothar Matthäus.
“In August 2006 Flick became assistant coach to Jürgen Löw at the German national team following the resignation of Jürgen Klinsmann. Löw and Flick led Germany through a rebuilding phase and then to the final of the European Championships in 2008.
“In 2010 the team reached the World Cup semi-final, the same stage of the European Championships in 2012 before being crowned World Champions in 2014 in Brazil.”
Flick led Bayern to an historic treble which included a 8-2 defeat against Barcelona in the Champions League. The German coach was awarded the UEFA Coach of the Year award.
Barcelona heeft officieel aangekondigd dat Julian Nagelsmann de nieuwe hoofdcoach van de club zal worden. De Duitse trainer komt over van RB Leipzig, waar hij de afgelopen jaren indruk heeft gemaakt met zijn tactische aanpak en zijn vermogen om jonge spelers te ontwikkelen.
Nagelsmann zal de taak op zich nemen om Barcelona weer naar de top van het Spaanse en Europese voetbal te brengen. De club heeft de afgelopen seizoenen moeite gehad om successen te behalen en hoopt met Nagelsmann aan het roer weer mee te kunnen doen om prijzen.
De 34-jarige trainer staat bekend om zijn innovatieve speelstijl en zijn focus op het ontwikkelen van jong talent. Hij heeft in het verleden laten zien dat hij in staat is om teams te laten spelen op een manier die zowel attractief als effectief is, en Barcelona hoopt dat hij die filosofie kan overbrengen op de spelers van de club.
Nagelsmann zal naar verwachting snel aan de slag gaan met het samenstellen van zijn technische staf en het plannen van de voorbereiding op het nieuwe seizoen. De fans van Barcelona zullen ongetwijfeld enthousiast zijn over de komst van de jonge coach en hopen dat hij de club weer naar successen kan leiden.
