Maduka Okoye has revealed Serie A champions Inter Milan attempted to sign him from Udinese over the summer.
Okoye however said the Nerazzuri couldn’t afford Udinese’s asking price.
“The interest from Inter was concrete, but Udinese were asking for €15m to buy me,” the shot-stopper told Transfermarkt.
“It would’ve been a dream, but I don’t regret how things went. I am happy to still be at this club, to be the Number 1 here. The situation could repeat itself if I keep working hard and maintain constant performances.

“I want to stay in Italy, this is a choice I have made. I like this land, the people in it and the atmosphere. I am happy in Udine and want to take the club high with as many points as possible.”
There are rumours the Nigeria international could move elsewhere in January.
The 25-year-old however said he is entirely focused on staying with the Zebras.
“I don’t see myself anywhere else in January. My attention is all on Udinese. Finishing the season here, under the guidance of Runjaic , is very important for me.”

Inter Milan heeft onlangs geprobeerd om de Nigeriaanse doelman Maduka Okoye aan te trekken, volgens bronnen dicht bij de club. De 21-jarige doelman staat momenteel onder contract bij Sparta Rotterdam in Nederland, maar heeft indruk gemaakt met zijn prestaties en heeft de aandacht getrokken van verschillende topclubs in Europa.
Okoye, die ook de Duitse nationaliteit heeft, begon zijn carrière bij Fortuna Düsseldorf voordat hij in 2020 naar Sparta Rotterdam verhuisde. Sindsdien heeft hij een sterke reputatie opgebouwd als een veelbelovende jonge doelman met een grote toekomst voor zich.
Inter Milan, die momenteel op zoek is naar versterkingen voor hun team, zag Okoye als een potentiële aanwinst voor hun doelgebied. De club heeft al enkele gerenommeerde doelmannen in hun selectie, maar ze waren geïnteresseerd in het toevoegen van Okoye als een toekomstige optie.
Helaas voor Inter Milan is het niet gelukt om Okoye te tekenen, aangezien Sparta Rotterdam niet bereid was om hun sterspeler te laten gaan. Okoye zelf heeft ook aangegeven dat hij gelukkig is bij zijn huidige club en dat hij zich wil blijven ontwikkelen en groeien als speler.
Hoewel Inter Milan niet in staat was om Okoye te tekenen, blijft de interesse in de jonge doelman hoog. Met zijn talent en potentieel is het slechts een kwestie van tijd voordat hij de overstap maakt naar een topclub in Europa. Voor nu zal Okoye blijven schitteren bij Sparta Rotterdam en zijn naam blijven vestigen als een van de meest veelbelovende doelmannen in het Europese voetbal.
