Former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi has faulted the decision of the club to appoint Sergio Conceicao as manager of the Rossonero.
In a chat with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sacchi stated that the Portuguese tactician is not the right manager for the club.
He noted that AC Milan would have done enough to appoint Julen Lopetegui as manager.
“Without a doubt, I can say that the arrival of Sergio Conceição has not brought the benefits that all the fans expected.

“Milan are in ninth position, that is, practically in the middle of the table. It is certainly not a position in keeping with a club that has written the history of football.”
“I remember, and I hope I’m not wrong, that Milan had identified Lopetegui as the coach for this season. Then, given that the fans rebelled because they considered Lopetegui not to be a suitable profile, it was decided to go for Fonseca, who, however, did not have a particularly outstanding CV.
“That was the first wrong decision . If you, as president, sporting director or CEO, are convinced of a choice or an idea, you must see it through to the end and not bow to the moods of the fans . If (Silvio) Berlusconi had had to listen to what the fans or the journalists thought about me, I would never have coached Milan: they called me Mr. Nobody. And that was the sweetest and kindest thing they said about me.”
Na een teleurstellend seizoen voor AC Milan, waarin de club niet in staat was om zich te kwalificeren voor de Champions League, zijn er geruchten ontstaan over de toekomst van manager Conceicao. Voormalig AC Milan-manager Arrigo Sacchi heeft recentelijk zijn twijfels geuit over de capaciteiten van Conceicao als manager van de club.
Sacchi, die AC Milan naar grote successen leidde in de jaren 80 en 90, gelooft dat Conceicao niet de juiste persoon is om de club weer naar de top te brengen. Hij wijst op het gebrek aan ervaring van Conceicao als manager en zijn onvermogen om de spelers te motiveren en tactisch goed neer te zetten.
Daarnaast heeft Sacchi kritiek geuit op het transferbeleid van AC Milan onder Conceicao, waarbij er volgens hem te veel nadruk ligt op het aantrekken van grote namen in plaats van het bouwen van een solide team. Dit heeft volgens Sacchi geleid tot een gebrek aan consistentie en samenhang in het spel van AC Milan.
Hoewel Conceicao nog steeds het vertrouwen geniet van het bestuur van AC Milan, groeit de druk op hem om te presteren. De fans van de club zijn teleurgesteld over de prestaties van het team en eisen verandering.
Het is duidelijk dat er verdeeldheid heerst over de toekomst van Conceicao als manager van AC Milan. Het is aan het bestuur van de club om te beslissen of hij nog steeds de juiste persoon is om de club naar succes te leiden, of dat er behoefte is aan een nieuwe visie en leiderschap om AC Milan weer terug te brengen naar de top van het Italiaanse voetbal.
