Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said he turned down an offer of €250 million for Lamine Yamal six months ago.
It was claimed over the summer that Ligue 1 giants PSG were willing to splash out heavily on Yamal.
But Laporta said he turned down the huge offer for the Euro 2024 winner.
“They came to buy Lamine from me for 250 million euros and I said no six months ago. He is the most popular player in the world. What is Lamine’s real value?” he told Barca One.
“Well, that is not reflected in the book value. Fortunately, there are indicators such as the Forbes list, which values the club at many billions, not how it was valued last year.”
Laporta also spoke about the current team and told the first-team squad that anyone who wants to leave needs to bring a decent offer.
“We did not want to sell, we thought we had to keep the team, which could give much more than it gave. I think we were not completely wrong, Flick is getting a lot out of it. Gündogan left and Olmo came. The players are performing much better than last year. Raphinha and Lewandowski have changed their faces.
“Whoever wants to leave should bring an offer for what they are worth and we will always study it. As Johan said, whoever plays here has to want to be here.”
Yamal’s valuation from Transfermarkt claimed he’s now worth €150 million, but his contract at Barca contains a release clause set at €1 billion.
