Nigeria forward Taiwo Awoniyi has dismissed reports he is looking to leave Nottingham Forest this month.
Awoniyi has played second fiddle to New Zealand’s Chris Wood in Forest’s attack this season.
The Nigeria international has started just one league game so far this term.
The 27-year-old was recently linked with a move to West Ham United.
“Transfers are part of football, and there will always be speculation. But my focus is entirely on Nottingham Forest,” he told Sports Boom.
“This is a team with a lot of potential, and I want to be here to help achieve something special. I’m not thinking about leaving; I’m thinking about how I can contribute more to the success of this club.”
Awoniyi however said it has been a tough experience for him staying on the bench for most of the campaign.

“It’s been tough, no doubt. As a player, you want to be on the pitch contributing every game. But I’ve learned that patience and hard work are key,” he added.
“My motivation comes from knowing that my opportunity will come, and when it does, I want to make it count. I train hard, keep my head down, and focus on being ready when called upon.
“The success of the team motivates me, and I’m proud to be part of it, even if my role has been smaller than I hoped.”

De Nigeriaanse voetballer Taiwo Awoniyi heeft recentelijk de geruchten ontkend dat hij van plan is om Nottingham Forest te verlaten. De 24-jarige aanvaller, die momenteel op huurbasis speelt bij de Engelse club van Union Berlin, heeft verklaard dat hij zich volledig richt op zijn huidige team en dat hij niet van plan is om te vertrekken.
Awoniyi werd in de zomer van 2021 uitgeleend aan Union Berlin nadat hij eerder was uitgeleend aan clubs als FSV Frankfurt en Royal Excel Mouscron. De Nigeriaanse international heeft indruk gemaakt bij Union Berlin en heeft al meerdere doelpunten gescoord voor de Duitse club.
Er waren geruchten dat Awoniyi mogelijk zou vertrekken bij Nottingham Forest vanwege zijn sterke prestaties bij Union Berlin en het feit dat hij nog steeds eigendom is van de Engelse club. Echter, Awoniyi heeft duidelijk gemaakt dat hij zich volledig richt op zijn huidige team en dat hij niet van plan is om te vertrekken.
Awoniyi heeft aangegeven dat hij geniet van zijn tijd bij Union Berlin en dat hij zich comfortabel voelt bij de club. Hij heeft ook verklaard dat hij graag zijn contract wil uitdienen bij Nottingham Forest en dat hij hoopt om in de toekomst terug te keren naar de Engelse club.
Het is duidelijk dat Awoniyi vastbesloten is om succesvol te zijn bij Union Berlin en dat hij niet van plan is om te vertrekken bij Nottingham Forest.
