Former Manchester United manager Wayne Rooney has disclosed that Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold is tempted with the move to join Real Madrid.
The England international who is expected to leave Anfield at the end of the season, is yet to ink a deal with the club.
Speaking with BBC Sport, Rooney stated that it would be difficult for Alexander-Arnold to resist Real Madrid’s move.

“I would not blame Alexander-Arnold for wanting to do something a little bit different – like a fresh challenge in a new country – Spain would be a really good move for him.”
“He has been at Liverpool for almost 20 years – since he was six – but the reality is that most players move at some point – that’s why there are so few one-club men like Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher.
Liverpool’s right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly considering a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, according to former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
Rooney, who now manages Derby County, made the revelation during an interview with Sky Sports, stating that Alexander-Arnold is at a stage in his career where he may be looking for a new challenge and Real Madrid could be an attractive option for him.
The 22-year-old defender has been a key player for Liverpool since breaking into the first team in 2016, winning the Premier League and Champions League with the club. Known for his attacking prowess and ability to deliver pinpoint crosses, Alexander-Arnold has established himself as one of the best right-backs in the world.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, are known for their history of signing top talent from around the world and have a reputation for being one of the biggest clubs in football. The opportunity to play for a club of Real Madrid’s stature could be a tempting proposition for Alexander-Arnold.
However, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool would be willing to let go of one of their star players, especially given his importance to the team. Manager Jurgen Klopp has previously stated that he sees Alexander-Arnold as a key part of his plans for the future.
Rooney’s comments have sparked speculation among fans and pundits alike, with many wondering whether Alexander-Arnold will indeed make the move to Real Madrid. Only time will tell whether this transfer rumor becomes a reality, but one thing is for certain – if Alexander-Arnold does decide to leave Liverpool, it will be a major loss for the club.
