Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Nathan Ake will be out for 10 weeks after sustaining another injury.
In a press conference on Friday ahead of the Citizens’ Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest, Guardiola stated Ake has struggled a lot this eason woth the problems in his feet.
“10-11 weeks they said to me (to be out). When you have surgery, it’s serious. He has struggled a lot this season with the problems in his feet.”

Guardiola was then asked whether the pressure on his side feels any different to the previous seasons due to them not being in the title race.
“Pressure is always there in big clubs. You have to pressure yourself to do your best no matter what you’re playing for.
“It’s different, but the reality is that we try to finish in the top four. Tomorrow, we have an opportunity to climb and help secure this target.”

Guardiola heeft het volste vertrouwen in zijn assistent-coach, Mikel Arteta, om de leiding over het team over te nemen tijdens zijn afwezigheid. Arteta heeft al eerder als interim-coach gefungeerd en heeft bewezen dat hij in staat is om het team succesvol te leiden.
De afwezigheid van Guardiola zal zeker een uitdaging vormen voor Manchester City, aangezien hij een van de meest gerespecteerde en succesvolle coaches in het voetbal is. Echter, met Arteta aan het roer en een getalenteerde groep spelers tot zijn beschikking, zal het team er alles aan doen om succesvol te blijven tijdens de afwezigheid van hun manager.
Guardiola zal naar verwachting terugkeren naar zijn functie als hoofdcoach zodra hij volledig hersteld is van zijn operatie. In de tussentijd zal hij nauw contact houden met het team en Arteta om ervoor te zorgen dat Manchester City op koers blijft voor succes in zowel de competitie als de Europese wedstrijden.
