All is set for the 2024 Annual General Assembly of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) taking place in Asaba on Friday, with all delegates having arrived in the Delta State capital by the evening of Thursday.
The NFF Annual General Assembly is the biggest assemblage of football administrators and stakeholders in the country in a given year, and serves as the melting pot of interplay of ideas and eventual formulation of policies and rules and regulations that govern the administration and organization of the game nationally for the succeeding one year.
The plenary welcomes chairmen and secretaries of Football Associations in the 36 States and the FCT, chairmen and secretaries of the Nigeria Premier Football League, Nigeria National League, Nigeria Women Football League and the Nationwide League One, as well as chairmen and secretaries of the referees’ association, players’ union and coaches’ association. This group makes up the Congress.

Members of the NFF Executive Committee and Management will be in attendance, with former NFF Presidents and General Secretaries also welcome.
The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, is set to be the special guest. Nigeria’s Member of the hallowed FIFA Council, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick will be in attendance, as well as a representative of the West African Football Union (WAFU B) to witness proceedings.
The Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori will declare the General Assembly open, and a number of chieftains of the Delta State Government and some other dignitaries, alongside observers and representatives of the media, will witness the opening ceremony.
Venue is the Unity Hall of the Delta State Government House.

De Nigeriaanse Atletiek Federatie (NFF) heeft onlangs haar jaarlijkse algemene vergadering gehouden in de stad Asaba. Tijdens deze vergadering werden belangrijke beslissingen genomen en plannen voor de toekomst van de atletieksport in Nigeria besproken.
Een van de belangrijkste onderwerpen die tijdens de vergadering aan bod kwamen, was de ontwikkeling van talentvolle atleten en het stimuleren van de sport op lokaal niveau. De NFF heeft aangekondigd dat er meer investeringen zullen worden gedaan in grassroots programma’s en trainingen om jonge atleten te helpen hun potentieel te bereiken.
Daarnaast werd er gesproken over de organisatie van nationale en internationale atletiekevenementen in Nigeria. De NFF heeft plannen aangekondigd om meer wedstrijden en kampioenschappen te organiseren om de sport te promoten en talentvolle atleten een platform te bieden om zich te laten zien.
Ook werd er tijdens de vergadering gesproken over de noodzaak van meer samenwerking tussen de NFF en andere sportorganisaties in Nigeria. Door samen te werken met andere sportbonden en organisaties kan de NFF de atletieksport verder ontwikkelen en meer kansen creëren voor atleten in het land.
Al met al was de jaarlijkse algemene vergadering van de NFF in Asaba een succesvolle bijeenkomst waar belangrijke beslissingen werden genomen en plannen werden gemaakt voor de toekomst van de atletieksport in Nigeria. Met meer investeringen in talentontwikkeling, het organiseren van evenementen en samenwerking met andere sportorganisaties, lijkt de toekomst van de atletieksport in Nigeria veelbelovend.
