The management of the Shooting Stars Sports Club(3SC) of Ibadan, has dissociated itself from the recent castigation on the personality of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Davidson Owumi.
Reacting to a write up, condemning and calling for the resignation of Owumi, as the COO of the league body, Shooting Stars, in an official statement, distanced itself from the write up, describing it as an opinion of an individual.
“Our attention has been drawn to an article circulated recently on the social media, indicting the Chief Operating Officer (COO), aftermath the stepping down of referee Bashiru Sadu, who handled our Matchday 36 clash against Rangers International of Enugu in Ibadan last Wednesday.
“We wish to through this medium, dissociate ourselves from the article, which to us, was just an opinion of an individual.

“As a club, we want to state unequivocally, that we are not in anyway, laying blames on anybody, as far as any decision taken by the NPFL board is concerned, particularly on the issues of referees and officiating, this is prerogative of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA).
“We are quite aware of the the fact that Rangers International struggled in the league last season and the club also had it rough at some points this season, even with Owumi as the COO of the NPFL.
“Shooting Stars are bold to state, that the Nigerian league has witnessed tremendous progress under the current leadership of the NPFL, of which Owumi, who to us, remains an upright and dedicated administrator is part.
“As a club, our focus is facing our own primary duty, which is to play the game according to the rules as we are happy being part of the process of taking the NPFL to a greater height.
“Finally, we as a club, wish to pledge our continued support to the NPFL board, in the overall interest of the league.”
3SC Management heeft onlangs afstand genomen van een campagne die gericht was tegen NPFL Chief Owumi. De campagne, die online werd gevoerd door een groep fans van de voetbalclub, richtte zich op de vermeende slechte prestaties van Owumi als chief executive officer van de Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
In een verklaring die werd uitgegeven door de 3SC Management, werd benadrukt dat de club geen enkele betrokkenheid had bij de campagne en dat het belangrijk is om respect te tonen voor alle betrokkenen in het Nigeriaanse voetbal. De club benadrukte ook dat het belangrijk is om kritiek op een constructieve en respectvolle manier te uiten, in plaats van het voeren van persoonlijke aanvallen.
De verklaring benadrukte ook dat 3SC Management gelooft in het belang van samenwerking en dialoog om de Nigeriaanse voetbalwereld te verbeteren. Het is belangrijk om problemen en zorgen op een professionele en respectvolle manier aan te pakken, in plaats van het voeren van negatieve campagnes die alleen maar verdeeldheid zaaien.
Het is belangrijk voor alle betrokkenen in het Nigeriaanse voetbal om samen te werken en constructieve oplossingen te vinden voor de uitdagingen waarmee de sport wordt geconfronteerd. Door respect te tonen voor alle betrokkenen en open te staan voor dialoog, kunnen we samenwerken om het Nigeriaanse voetbal naar een hoger niveau te tillen.
3SC Management roept alle betrokkenen op om respectvol met elkaar om te gaan en constructief bij te dragen aan de ontwikkeling van het Nigeriaanse voetbal. Alleen door samen te werken en respect te tonen voor elkaar, kunnen we echt vooruitgang boeken en de sport naar nieuwe hoogten brengen.
